What we collect when you search, list or enquire on Genesis Estate, why, who helps us, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

Who is responsible
Genesis Events and Media Group operates Genesis Estate and is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, write to hello@genesismedia.co or call +91 96534 54848.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number, city and the sign-in methods you use. We record whether each email or number has been verified.
- Enquiries: when you contact a lister, the name, mobile number, optional email, message, preferred visit date and whether you want home-loan help.
- Listings: if you list a property, its details, photos, price and its full address. The full address is never published; only the project, locality and city are public.
- Your activity: shortlisted properties and saved searches.
- Engagement data: which listings are viewed, for how long, and which photos are opened. This uses a random visitor identifier stored in a first-party cookie, not your name, and helps listers understand interest in their property.
- Technical data: your IP address, used briefly to prevent abuse of sign-in and forms, security logs of sign-ins and staff actions, and anonymous page-view statistics (no advertising cookies).
Photos you upload are resized in your browser before upload, which removes camera metadata such as GPS location.
Why we use it
- To show listings, run search, shortlists and alerts, and send you emails you asked for (alerts, enquiry confirmations, listing status).
- To pass your enquiry to the lister you chose, so they can contact you about that property.
- To review listings before they go live and keep the marketplace free of fraud and spam.
- To meet legal obligations, including the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 and tax law.
- To send occasional property news only if you opt in. You can opt out any time in your profile.
Who sees what
When you enquire about a listing, that lister receives your name, mobile number, optional email and message. Listers are not allowed to share your details further or use them for anything other than that property. Genesis moderators can see listings, enquiries and account details to run and protect the service.
Who helps us
These providers process data for us only to run the service: Auth0 (sign-in and verification codes), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting, photo storage and anonymous analytics), Resend (email) and Upstash (rate limiting). Some store data outside India under contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal data. We share it with authorities only where the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while your account is active, and for 2 years after your last sign-in.
- Enquiries: 2 years, so listers and buyers can refer back to them.
- Closed or rejected listings: 3 years, for dispute handling and fraud prevention.
- Engagement data: 2 years, after which only totals are kept. Security logs: 1 year.
Your rights
You can see and update your details in your profile, ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct, complete or erase it (except records we must keep by law), withdraw consent for marketing at any time, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Write to hello@genesismedia.co; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Genesis Estate is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this notice. The current version is always on this page, with its version number above.
